About Art4TheHomeless
Imagine... a movement inspired by the arts to open the eyes of Americans to the plight of their own people. Imagine, through art, music and poetry, we are shining a much needed light on our own crisis: HOMELESSNESS

Art4TheHomeless was once a blog called Colors of Ink with Blogcharm, which closed down. Nutang, became the new home of Colors of Ink and was renamed Art4TheHomeless, by a really good friend, Samantha Medd. She is now the Co-Founder of Art4TH.

Now Art4TH is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization that unites artists of all venues to promote homeless awareness in the US.

Art4TH does this through the Art4TH Webzine, a monthly online magazine that features a musician whose music plays throughout the website, a feature artist, and a feature writer while also featuring a homeless relief organization. All artists featured retain their copyrights and all of it is free. If you would like to be a featured artist, musician, or writer contact me at [email protected]

Almost died in the ER yesterday
Saturday. 2.28.09 9:20 pm
I have been sick with this cold and it got worse. I started having sever chest pain so I was taken by ambulance to Grady when I got home from work. I wished I would have stayed home.

There was this head nurse and she was a bitch. I had an asthma attack in the waiting room and fell onto the floor. The woman started screaming at me and I quote
"You need to get up and behave yourself. You are making a fool of yourself in front of everyone. You are fine because i did the EMS evaluation myself. Now get up,"

She kept saying that over and over and then she faded away. I had stopped breathing for a minute or so and I kept pointing my throat trying to signal that I couldn't breathe. My mother gave me HER inhaler and put it in my mouth and pushed the wonderful albuterol in my mouth. It was the medicine and the bitch's yelling that brought me back. I thought it was over for a minute. I mean, everything went black. There was this abyss that was pulling me away from it all.

Security came--they have metal detectors in the ER and were there the whole time, but the guy tried to help me up. The bitch/nurse told him

"No! Don't you dare help her she is fine. You will hurt yourself,"

I said a prayer for that security guard since I couldn't talk to tell him thanks.

Anyway, they finally saw me and I was sent to the asthma room and was on oxygen for the next five hours.

I'm glad you're okay! That's so scary. I hope that nurse seriously gets her act in line because that's just ridiculous.

Crazy stuff.
Sometimes, in situations like those, I almost wish something bad would actually happen to put those kind of people in their place.

Precisely why I hate hospitals.

That's intense. Hopefully that woman learned her lesson when she realized how serious your condition was. I very glad that you're feeling better now!

As a first responder I arrive before the med unit and start basic care for the patient. From time to time I feel like the there is nothing wrong with the patient and they are putting on a show, but never never would I treat them like that! Every bit of training I have states to believe the patient and treat them as if they have a life threating illness or injury whether I believe it or not.

If I had been there, despite being a stranger I would have told that ol ho to shut her trap or she will be in deep trouble!

You can actually report that sorry excuse of a nurse and threaten to sue for that kind of conduct. It is your right as a patient to report any misconduct while in the care of the hospital.
